Girls Golf Missoula ~ Grades K-12 ~ Monday, June 29th – Thursday, July 2th

Get swinging this summer! The LPGA and Girl Scouts of MT & WY are partnering with the pros at the University of Montana Golf Club to bring girls a fun and affordable four-day golf program. In addition to lessons from professionals and course play, girls will receive prizes and an LPGA membership. The LPGA will supply girls with a handy golf kit filled with fun prizes and things to bring to the course.

LPGA-USGA Girls Golf will provide a solid instructional foundation for girls who want to:

  • Get an introduction to golf skills
  • Increase existing golf skills
  • Get hands-on help from a PGA professional
  • Play for fun with friends and family
  • Learn for a future career in business
  • Compete at high school, college, and/or local, state and national levels
  • Learn a sport that you can play for a lifetime

Parental help is encouraged and appreciated even if you aren’t a golfer. Become a Girl Scout member, and you can accompany your daughter at this event, join in other great Girl Scouts events, and volunteer to help girls in so many ways. Memberships are only $15. Call today to join!

Missoula Day Camp (in Space!) ~ Grades 1-12 ~ July 6th – July 9th

This year’s summer day camp theme is “Space Camp”! The camp will be hosted at Historica Fort Missoula  Invest in your girl’s summer by signing them up for this special camp that helps them Discover their strengths, connect with other girls, and Take Action to make our world a better place.  From astronomy to training like an astronaut, girls will find out what it takes to be on the cutting edge of space exploration. Stay overnight on July 9th if you are a 5th grader or older!

Girls Only Outdoor Skills Survival Camp with Parks & Rec ~ Grades 2-8 ~ Monday, July 6th – Friday, July 10th

Girl Scouts of Montana and Wyoming presents this awesome outdoor survival skills camp! Learn beginning to advanced survival skills, build & sleep in a shelter, and practice your new skills with an obstacle course. This day camp runs from Monday-Friday July 6-10 and includes a campout on Thursday. Open to girls in grades 2-8; new girls get a GS membership for the rest of the summer! Cost is $180/girl. Bring your own lunch each day. We will meet at Currents Aquatic Center each day at 8:30am.

Whitewater Rafting ~ Grades 4 – 12 & Family ~ Thursday, July 16th

Who says only Girl Scouts get to have all the fun? Why don’t we invite the whole family!? Girl Scouts and their families will enjoy a day of friendly rapids, sun, and swimming while floating one of western Montana’s best rivers: The Alberton Gorge of the Clark Fork River. The Gorge is filled with numerous Class II-III rapids such as Cliffside, Tumbleweed, Fang, Roller Coaster and many more! All girls and family members in 4th grade and up are welcome to join the fun.

Participants will go on a 4 hour whitewater rafting trip with the best raft guides from ZooTown Surfers.  We will eat lunch at the put-in while we listen to the safety talk, so bring your own lunch. After a couple of warm-up rapids, you’ll get to take a sun-tan break and enjoy a cool-off swim at the famous ‘Sandy Beaches’. After the beach, the wild ride kicks in – Tumbleweed and Fang are just around the bend! Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife like deer, osprey, trout, and bald eagles. If there’s enough time, you’ll get to stop at Fish Creek and jump into the crisp, blue water of this gorgeous tributary.

  Along with your own lunch, bring a snack like a granola bar!

Yoga Camp with Jess Matthiae ~ Grades 2-5 ~ Wednesday, July 22 – Friday July 24

Become self-empowered through the mindful, holistic, fun and movement-filled approach of yoga with local instructor, Jess Matthiae of Peaceful Heart Yoga. At this 3-day affordable camp, Girl Scouts can participate in morning yoga exercises with Jess, followed by games, activities, and crafts at West Side Park that will promote healthy body image along with a healthy lifestyle. You will learn exercises that can fit into your daily routine and help you thrive in your inherent beauty every day. So come join the fun and create more health, joy, and authenticity in your life!

If you would like to bring a friend, you will not only earn a yoga fun patch, but a “Bring a Friend” patch as well! Yoga mats are provided.

streamgirlsSTREAM Girls ~ Grades 2 – 12 ~ Saturday, August 8th

Trout Unlimited, FISHionista, and supporting organizations are offering a fishing clinic for girls in grades 2-12 with appropriate age groups and stations for all abilities. From the
volunteers, girls will learn:

  • Fly tying
  • Fly casting
  • Bug Identification
  • Nature art

Every girl will get a FREE Trout Unlimited annual membership! Lunch and snacks included.

A World of Healthy Cooking #1 (Grades 2-5)

The Good Food Store’s professional cooking instructor will teach Brownies & Juniors how to make their own healthy snacks and simple meals. Girls will be inspired by new flavors, French cuisine, and European flare on their way to earning either their Brownies ‘Snacks’ or Juniors ‘Simple Meals’ legacy badges.
The cost of this program includes the instruction, food, supplies, and badges. Girls should come prepared to get a little messy and to work with utensils, knives, and hot stoves.

This event is open to girls in grades 2-5.

The Good Food Store’s professional cooking instructor will teach Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors how to create worldly dishes from local, organic, and innovative ingredients. Girls will be inspired by new flavors and Mediterranean cuisine on their way to earning their ‘Locavore’, ‘Eating for Beauty’, or ‘World Cuisine’ legacy badges.

The Good Food Store’s professional and experienced instructor will teach girls some of the basics of cooking, and they will supply the freshest and tastiest local, organic ingredients to add to their culinary creations. By the end of the program, girls will have created a mid-day meal to enjoy with their friends!

Invite a friend! A girl can register for Girl Scouts and for this event and her membership will last until September 30th, 2014. Plus, she gets her first badges right away! Call GSMW for help registering.

A Girl Scout Destination is your chance to go somewhere new, do something different, and meet people from everywhere you can imagine! Join us for a fun, engaging event that will teach you all you need to know and more about the different destinations.
Girls are encouraged to bring an adult with them and also a friend. Friends do not need to be a registered Girl Scout to attend. We do ask that you reserve your place for this informative and fun evening. Enjoy this special night for Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, and adults. Participate in all-new, creative activities that will help you all kick-off your Girl Scout Journeys adventures. We’ll have a pizza dinner, too, to celebrate the new season of Scouting! We have completely different activities and a whole new approach to introducing our leadership Journeys to adults and girls. Adults are welcome to attend, and all should prepare to take part in the activities and learn about the benefits of Journeys.If you have a Journey activity you would like to share, please contact Sarah at 1.800.736.5243 x2306. We would love your enthusiasm and help facilitating Journeys activities. Please consider volunteering to help make this event a success – your registration fee will be waived. Adults can add to this experience by registering for the Joy in the Journey leader training two weeks after this event.
